Three people were killed and 30 injured in a powerful explosion in Charsadda in Pakistan’s troubled northwestern tribal region.

Islamabad, April 22/Nationalturk – At least three people were killed and 30 others injured, some of them critically, in a powerful explosion in Charsadda in Pakistan’s troubled northwestern tribal region.

Police officials said explosive device planted in a motorcycle exploded near Farooq Azam chowk of Tehsil Bazaar in Charsadda in Pakistan’s restive tribal region.

They said the three people including a shopkeeper were killed and 30 others injured in the explosion. “The injured were shifted to nearby hospital. The doctors have termed condition of some of the injured as a critical”.

The officials said police mobile van was the primary target of the attack. “Among the injured are seven policemen,” they said adding according to preliminary investigation four kilogrammes of explosives was used in the blast.

They said bomb was detonated through a remote control.

Immediately after the attack, police and security men sealed the area and conducted combing and search operation to track down the people responsible for the blast.

Police officer injured in another blast

A police officer and his guard were wounded in another explosion near their patrol vehicle on a highway near the Mir Hassan area of Nasirabad district in tribal region.

“The bomb was detonated via a remote after the vehicle of DSP Chattar Abdul Ghaffar passed by. The police vehicle suffered damage in the explosion. The injured police officer and his guard were hospitalised,” he said adding after the blast there was brief exchange of fire.

3 injured militants, accomplices arrested

Police in a hospital in Peshawar, capital of restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, arrested three injured militants and six of their accomplices.

Sources said the injured militants belong to a militant outfit and were being shifted to hospital by six of their colleagues in an injured condition.

It is not known whether they had sustained injuries in encounter with security forces or fighting with other militant groups.
