6 die in horror amusement park ride malfunction in China

Six people have been confirmed dead in China after an amusement park ride malfunctioned and plummeted 15 meters to the ground.

An injured man who survives the crash on the floor while he waits for an ambulance covered in blood.

According to reports the Space Journey simulator at the Eco-Adventure Valley, which is part of the Overseas Chinese Town East amusement park malfunctioned while the ride was on and people where inside it.

At least 10 others were reported injured in the incident which occurred on Tuesday, with five of the injured being in critical condition.

Some of the injured were seen outside the ride covered in blood as ambulance services and fire brigades rushed to the scene to help the injured people.

Authorities at the theme park have not explained want went wrong on the ride which is supposed to simulate what a rocket launch.

One witness on the ride described the accident as by saying “there was a sudden loud boom inside the cabin. Then everything went black and I don’t know what happened. I was in the hospital when I woke up.”

Another witness on the ride said “there was a power cut when the crash happened and I smelled something burning. We managed to open the door to escape before firefighters arrived to rescue others.”

The Space Journey ride has 11 cabins which can seat four people in each and elevates to heights of 15 metres into the air turning the cabins 360 degrees.

It is thought that one of the cabins had gone loose and hit other cabins before plummeting to the ground while travelling in high speed.

Most of the 44 people on the ride was found unconscious.
