At least three bomb blasts took place in Pakistan on Friday killing five people and injuring 18 others.

Islamabad, May 10/Nationalturk- A day before the country goes to polls to elect new government, three bomb blasts on Friday killed five people and injured 18 others in Pakistan.

Reports said at least five people were killed and 13 others were injured in two bomb blasts in Miramshah’s Khwaja Jan market and checkpost in North Waziristan tribal region today.

Police sources said the blasts occurred within an hour of each other.

“The first bomb was planted on a motorcycle and it was detonated using a remote-controlled device. The explosive device was detonated when passenger car passed through the area,” they said adding three persons were killed in the blast and 10 others injured.

Sources said four to five kilograms of explosives were used in the blast.

They said exact nature of the second explosion, which killed two people and injured three others,  was being ascertained,” they said.

They said immediate after the bomb blasts, the security forces cordoned off the area and launched search operation to track down the militants responsible for the blasts.

Bomb explodes outside election office of PPP

At least five people were injured when a bomb exploded outside an election office of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) in Quetta in restive Balochistan province.

Many vehicles were damaged in the blast, which shook the entire area.

“The injured have been hospitalized,” a police official said.

About 100 people including election candidates, political party workers and civilians have been killed in bombings since the election schedule was announced in country in March.

Pakistan goes to vote tomorrow (Saturday) to elect a new government. PML led by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and PPP have emerged as three dominant forces in the election and it is difficult to predict who will win the polls.
