Abdullah Gül Welcomes his Montenegrin Counterpart in Ankara

Turkey’s President Abdullah Gul welcomed his Montenegrin counterpart Filip Vujanovic with full military honors at the Presidential Residence in Ankara on Wednesday.

Turkish President Gul and Vujanovic later had a tete-a-tete meeting. The two presidents will chair meetings between Turkish and Montenegrin delegations and hold a joint press conference.

This is the first time a Montenegrin president is paying a formal visit to Turkey after the country declared its independence in 2006.

Turkish President had paid a visit to Montenegro in December, 2009.

Montenegro took over the rotating presidency of South-East European Cooperation Process from Turkey during the summit meeting in Istanbul on June 23, 2010.
