Adele’s success of “21” increasing

Adele’s success in the US is set to continue next week as her album 21 is poised to return to the top of the Billboard 200 for the 14th week.

The London songstress’ album currently sits at number two in the chart behind Michael Buble’s Christmas, but festive songs generally drop out of the charts once Christmas has passed.

This will leave the top spot up for grabs and the Rolling in the Deep singer is expected to take advantage of the opportunity.
Should Adele secure a 14th week at the top of the charts, she will be the first artist to achieve the feat since the Titanic soundtrack topped the Billboard 200 for 16 weeks in 1998.

It is expected that 21 will move 100,000 copies in the week up to January 1st, but the 44 weeks it has spent in the charts is a long way off the current holder of top spot.

Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon currently sits at 143 in the top 200, but it leads the way for longevity, having appeared in the chart for a total of 791 weeks since its release.

LMFAO are currently celebrating their second number one on the Billboard Hot 100 singles this week with Sexy and I Know It.
