Airbus Showcases A380 at Istanbul Airex Show

An Airbus A380, world’s largest passenger jet, landed Thursday at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport to be showcased at Airex 2010, the 8th International Civil Aviation and Airports Exhibition.

The A380, which took off from France, came to Turkey only for a few hours. It will be displayed at the Istanbul air show for only four hours and then return to Airbus facilities in France.

The 525-seat double-deck aircraft can fly 15,200 kilometers non-stop.

Executives of Turkish Airlines (THY), Turkey’s flag carrier, were among the crowd who toured the A380 at the show. THY’s CEO Temel Kotil, who was asked whether or not THY had plans to order A380 aircraft from Airbus, said that THY board had not yet made any decision on such an order.
