The flight bans which has literally crippled airports and stranded hundreds of thousands of people due to the volcanic ash in Iceland has finally eased with many airports opening around Northern Europe and flights departing and arriving but the chaos is not over with backlogs of flights expected to reach up to three weeks.

There are also warning that the eruption in the Icelandic volcano could worsen causing more ash to be sent to the air causing more chaos.

There are still restriction with some Northern European countries such as France, Germany, Sweden and Belgium with flights much less then usually landing and departing. Germany are only allowing low altitude flights where as Belgium are only allowing planes to land but non to depart untill at least 12pm GMT Wednesday.

However airports in Austria, Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Switzerland have all reopened but chaos pursues as tens of thousands of passengers with cancelled flights trying to find flights to go home.

The flight restriction which resulted in over 95,000 flights to be cancelled has also had a knock on effect on businesses around the world with couriers services being cancelled, products travelling via air not reaching destinations on time and obviously airline companies loosing hundreds of millions of Euros.

The latest news on the Volcano is that it is spewing out more lava, and less ash but this can easily change as mother nature is under control currently.

While many passengers are trying to get home via airports, more then 300 British citizens were coming home today after a British war ship coming from Afghanistan docked in Santander, northern Spain.

Only vulnerable passengers were allowed on the ship with the elderly, pregnant, sick and families with children allowed on board.

Analysts are saying passengers with current flights would be shown priority as passengers with cancelled tickets will be put on a waiting list.
