Amsterdam War Memorial Panic Queen evacuated

Amsterdam, Holland – Panic broke out during war memorial service in central Amsterdam resulting in over 30 people being injured and the royal family being evacuated.

The incident which occurred on Tuesday during a war memorial service in central Amsterdam frightened people into a panic which resulted in a stampede with people running to the exits.

An unknown man began to shout during a one minute silence to honour the Dutch war man who died during World War II. After the panic the yelling man caused a further panic occurred after a member of public reportedly discovered a suspicious looking suitcase.

Panicked people were seen climbing on curves on the side of buildings to save themselves from the oncoming wave of people while children were crying in fright.

So far two people have been reported to have been arrested due to the incident in which the Dutch royal family, and several senior officials and politicians had attended.

The incident occurred just over a year after a failed assassination attempt on Queen Beatrix. The royal family who were immediately evacuated from the scene by bodyguards returned to the memorial and completed the ceremony.

Some of the 30 plus injured were then visited by Queen Beatrix, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and his wife, Princess Maxima.

Amsterdam’s police department announced on Wednesday that security tapes were being reviewed. The man which shouted out during the silence was promptly arrested by police on bikes and it is reported that the 39-year-old male, who is a Dutch native, had a long history of drug related offences.

It has also been reported that the arrested man was wearing clothing and had a hairstyle which is commonly associated with Orthodox Jews.
