Analysis of the Netherlands and Euro 2012 with Fuat Yaman
NationalTurk: Two years ago the Netherlands was the finalists of the World Cup 2010, and what’s your opinion on what happened with that team ? In the previous European championship they also played superb football but after 32 years they have been eliminated in the first round fairly easily.
Fuat Yaman: The Netherlands appears to be successful, but they play bad football, and their approach of the game was also bad. They played tough football at the defensive end. Their players at the defense tried to disrupt the opponent and then there is this group of talented Dutch players in the offense. This is the kind of playing style the Netherlands never have espoused before. For years, they were pleasing the eye with “Total Football” yet success in all of these tournament haven’t came, but in the 2010 World Cup Holland’s soccer was not an example of “Total Football”. In this tournament they kept playing the same bad football but this time they have utterly failed.
NT: Do you think this is the error of Holland’s coach ?
FY: I believe Holland have lost with Bert Van Marwijk many things, it did not suprise me that Holland is eliminated in the first round because I believe it is good for Dutch football. Holland cannot afford to expect to improve or restructure its squad when its manager lacks the required football mentality and management and interpretation skills on and off the pitch.
NT: When Van Marwijk was at the helm of Feyenoord Technical he outlined a completely different philosophy, why do you think he has changed the philosophy with Netherlands national team?
FY: The global football mentality is focused atm on two kinds of philoshophies. The first one is what Greece had done in 2004 or as it did in this tournament against Russia, being successful with ugly anti-football. Chelsea won Champions League this year with same defensive tactics. The other style is played by Barcelona and Spain National Team or the former Dutch national team had also played this kind of beautiful football. World football faces the danger of defensive football. Even teams like Holland accept defensive play and set tactics accordingly in order to be successfull, but we may not forget that soccer is a sport for fans and millions watch it. No one would pay money and watch in the arenas teams which blemish football.
NT: Do you think Bert Van Marwijk has given some players concessions and more responsibility?
FY: Throughout the history, Dutch soccer has been all about players acting in cohesion and unison as a team that has been playing together. But for the first time they have been at the pitch with a dominant player such as Arjen Robben. Robben tried to do everything by himself which was a huge error. Performances of players like Van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Huntellaar dropped dramatically and defensive players De Jong and Van Bommel caused Holland’s game to be completely disrupted. Add to this Holland’s years long problem of ineffective defenders the Netherlands seriously failed at their task.
NT: Was the main problem of the Netherlands Robben ?
FY: Robben endured a mental and physical trauma coming from the Champions League. It seemed like he still can not get over the incident. seemed to live in the same way, but Sneijder and Van Persie also saw that sometimes the biggest challenges and a year of burnout in the 50 leagues that play on the soccer match, but it is kind of different psychological motivations As I said, and training methods, these problems it is entirely Coach aşılabilinir error. Ran out of three games played in the Netherlands and Germany against Portugal agreed in physically limited capacity, but against a team such as Denmark did not surprise me, even direnmediler eliminated.
NT: The first round matches come to the end of the state championship, how do you see today?
FY: French team was most impressed me in the groups. the team was losing altitude with Raymond Domenech. Laurent Blanc’s team earned a lot of , I believe France many will rise in this tournament
Italy made progress towards becoming a team. Prandelli When adding a lot of young and talented team players also from experienced players know very well to get the maximum yield
Croatia is very different team and they have excellent features but they are psychologically fragile natüre.
In Group C Italy, Spain and Croatia, in which is come top positions this trio I believe in the tournament theys future is so clear
England taking an impressive victory against Sweden. They continues on its way. When Wayne Ronney into the team in terms of attack will get more positives but there are classic defensive issues and give an easy goal position, but that’s their biggest blocking the progresion on. I do not believe England can do so much.
Germany and Spain, and everyone’s favorite their teams are playing best football anyone cant be surprised if they get to top.
I feel sorry when I saw in Greece on behalf of our country football, We are introduced ourselves as one of Europe’s sixth largest economy of football but we can not participated the tournament but in the economic crisis in Greece joins in the last four major tournaments. and again in the quarterfinals, This issue should be analyzed for our Football
