A Belgium magistrate and clerk have been shot dead during court in Brussels.
Reports are coming in from Belgium that a female magistrate and clerk has been shot dead in a district court in Brussels.
According to initial reports the magistrate identifies as Isabelle Brandon and her clerk identifies as Andre Belleman by Belgian media was shot during the end of a court session just before 11.30 am.
Police have started a major manhunt after the man fled the scene. A near by school has also been evacuated for precaution.
It is not known why the man shot the magistrate or the clerk as police are investigating if the assailant was on trial in a case or if it was a revenge attack on a past decision of the magistrate.
Two ambulances was seen outside the court house in Brussels, police have cordoned the area off and are investigating the surrounding areas for evidence.
A prominent member of the Brussel court Yves Oschinsky spoke of his shock of the tragedy. Oschinsky said “This is a serious blow. It’s terrible that even the security of court is no longer assured.”
The media has reported that the attacker was of Algerian origin but this has not been confirmed by Belgium police.
