Fear of violence sells, according to UN figures hundreds of thousands of people in northern Nigeria from their homes. The Islamists of Boko Haram there lead a bloody rampage and have hundreds of girls abducted. But even against the government serious allegations are raised.

The bloody conflict in northern Nigeria demands ever new victims. Suspected members of Islamist extremist group Boko Haram have according to a newspaper report blasted a bridge and killed at least 30 people. The attack took place in the village Gamboru Ngala on the border with Cameroon, as the newspaper “Punch” reported. There Boko Haram had killed more than 300 people a few days ago and eleven girls kidnapped.

According to the UN refugee Help Drive (UNHCR) in the three northern Nigerian states 250,000 people fleeing from violence. Around 61,000 more would have gone to the neighboring countries of Cameroon, Chad and Niger, the UN announced relying on Nigerian authorities with information. The internally displaced persons and refugees reported therefore of extreme violence and brutality.

Even in a year in the three Islamic states apply a state of emergency. Among other things, there is fighting the Boko Haram for a theocracy based on Sharia law. The army of the country had launched an offensive against the group in the states of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa last May. Under control the troops have the region but not brought.

The UN Security Council condemned on Friday the bloody actions of the Boko Haram as a threat to stability in West and Central Africa. Particular attention had excited the abduction of more than 300 students in Chibok in Borno State few weeks ago. 53 of them were able to escape now, but 276 should still be in captivity of the extremists. In a video claiming responsibility it was said that they should be sold as slaves.
