Bosnia-Herzegovina: Giant hole in the ground swallows trees and village pond / Strange News

Bosnia-Herzegovina-Sanica-Strange-Giant-Hole

50 meters wide and 30 meters deep is the crater that swallowed an entire pond together with surrounding trees in the Bosnian Sanica. From one moment to the next the earth sagged – and still the pit continues to grow.

Nicely, it must have been out on the pond in front of the gates Sanicas. Children were fishing in the pond encircled by pastures with his greenish water; near grazing cows.

All that’s over now. Incredulous stares Rezak Motanic in the giant crater in its place was once the pond. Two weeks ago, that a hole in the ground opened at the site, which choked the pond together with water and fish. Even the trees on the bank disappeared into the pit.

Residents Fuad Cemal shows a photo of the pond, which was at this point once.

“On the day before it happened, I have sat here and drank plum brandy,” says Hasan Cemal residents, who watched the events with their own eyes. “There was panic,” he says. “Fish jumped out of the water, and a large plum tree was pulled down, as if someone had him on the hook.”

Bosnia-Herzegovina:Still grows the monster

About twenty feet wide was the pond, and about eight feet deep. Much greater, however, the newly created hole in the ground, call it the “abyss”, the inhabitants Sanicas: 50 meters in width and 30 meters in depth is the monster, and it is still growing.

What caused the crater, the population has very own theories. “Perhaps a huge underground cave is open,” speculates Milanko Skrbic. “Or a volcano.” Another popular explanation holds that fish could have brought a German bomb from World War II to the explosion – such explosive devices have namely an old woman disposed of in the pond after the war. “She died when one of the bombs detonated in her arms,” says Hasan Cemal, while standing on the crater rim.

Scientists certainly keep this kind explanations for humbug. According to them, it is not uncommon for ponds and small lakes sag suddenly. Cause of such processes could therefore be dwindling groundwater resources, effects, caused for example by irrigation in agriculture.

For hard to believe, therefore, hold enlightened contemporaries also another, creepy story that is told in Sanica. After the disappearance of the pond is connected with the death of its owner. “Days before his death, Hasan said: When I die, I take everything with,” says Motanic. “And so it happened.”
