Brazil League new low as players attack reporters in match fight

The fight occurred after a match between Goias Vs Vitoria where an argument broke out between the coach of Goias, Emerson Leao and reporter Roque Santos.

According to witnesses and TV footage, the former Brazil national team manager Leao had been walking up to the match officials to talk about the bad refereeing when Santos was seen asking the manager some questions.

Leao was seen putting his finger towards the reporters face and asked him to move the microphone out of his face before shoving the arm of the reporter who defended himself.

After this small episode, all hell broke loose when players and the reporters started brawling with each other.

The Goias players were also very angered by the swarm of reporters around their manager especially after the pushing incident with the reporter.

The police and security guards also rushed into the field to stop the fight but striker Rafael Moura was seen throwing a hard punch to the mouth area of the reporter, Roque Santos, who fell to the ground with the force of the punch.

The Goias manager, Leao who was a former Brazil goalkeeper himself had been very angered by the referee’s after his team led the game 2-0 before Vitoria made a remarkable comeback in the dying moments of the game.

Later, Santos went to a police station and allegedly filed a complaint on the manager and the 3 separate players. Santos also said that he is planning to sue the manager Leao, Moura who had punched him and two other Goias players.

No Vitoria players were involved in the brawl. The Brazilian league is known for on pitch fights between players, referees, managers, fans, police, etc.

Just a month ago several players in a Brazilian second division game were sprayed tear gas by security officials after a player refused to come off the field when he received a red card.
