Bulgaria Elections: Government survives no-confidence vote / Breaking News

BULGARIA-POLITICS-DEMONSTRATION

In Bulgaria, the conservative opposition has again failed with a vote of no confidence – she had accused the government of violating the pipeline project South Stream against EU rules. Elections are still more likely.

The fourth-confidence motion within one year against the socialist-dominated government of Bulgaria has failed on Friday as expected in Parliament in Sofia. The conservative opposition GERB party had accused the government of the gas pipeline project South Stream to violate the EU rules and to have failed in its overall energy policy.

Against the attempt of the GERB voted 116 deputies. Only 93 supported the censure motion.

After the electoral defeat of the socialists in the European election since the end of May 2013 the ruling coalition of socialists and the smaller Turks party DPS will still have expected no more full term. The DPS had performed very well in the EU election and called for early parliamentary elections already inevitable. Elections also require the GERB and two not represented in Parliament party groups that MPs will send the new EU Parliament.
