The worst part of the story is the the bull, who after being harassed and stabbed and and weakened for the matador’s advantage… managed to strike back as is his instict.. and instead of being put to pasture to enjoy his life with lots of sexy cows… he is made to fight again… BULL won the match…

This is a Dangerous ‘sport’, also this is a tradition. It’s there choice if they want to experiance the pain from the bull. Its in – humane what they do to the bulls, but atleast they’re not waisting the bull, they’re using the bull meat for food. We eat chicken and ther animals, whats the big deal? That is a horrid sight to look at, but also cool. He must have suffered through great pain and also lost some teeth in the process. All i got to say to him is goodluck facing another bull just like this one, and dont fall or you’ll get your end of the bargin.

Waah, waah, waah… So the bullfighter got injured. It’s not like he got stabbed/gored in the heart. It’s just that the injury LOOKS shocking. If four or five people spend several hours intentionally provoking a 1000+ lb, powerful animal, they should expect it take action to defend itself (unless they are “stoopit”). Take a look at those lances sticking out of the bull’s shoulders; I’m betting they weren’t pink before the bull was gored with them. Where is the sympathy for the slow, ritualized injuries that are inflicted on many, many bulls each year? Oh, that’s right, “they’re just animals,” so their pain and suffering doesn’t COUNT. The change I’d like to see in bullfighting is for the bullfighters ALL to be required to suffer injuries when the bull does, of the same type and to a proportionally equivalent degree, and expected to fight on. If the bullfighters were given the option of continuing their “art” while suffering the same sort of pain as the bull, I’m betting a lot of them would find other “art forms.” As it stands, bullfighting is a LOT riskier for the bull!

@Yoop: No, he probably wouldn’t be “tasty.” Male hormones naturally present tend to make meat tough and unpleasant. That’s why the farming industry has perfected so many ways of neutering male animals to be used for food.

The matador must have been very well aware of what the risks were. He should be thanking God he didnt get killed by that bull. However I do think that that bull fought bravely and shouldnt have gotten killed. I dont think they should ban bullfighting completely though. It’s part of the Spanish society. You shuold be proud of having such a historical art still taking place in Spain. If you ban it, you will just be a normal “boring” country like all the other ones. You don’t know what you have got until it’s gone so you should keep this art protected and not ban it (completely). That’s just unsophisticated and

It is hypocritical to say you don’t feel sorry for the Matador. One one hand you show human compassion for the animal, then dispassion for the man. Those two statements do not fit together. It is sad that a man was horrifically injured and it is sad that bulls are killed.

Bullfighting, although a cultural tradition in some countries, can only be compared to bear baiting, dog fighting, and cock fighting in its violence and cruelty.

Bull fighting is part of Spain’s culture. It doesn’t make sense if we condemn these bull fighters because it’s like condemning the whole lot of Spanish culture. It wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t the bull’s fault. That’s just how things go in their country.

Why are they shocked & upset about the matador but not about the poor tortured bull? What is wrong with a country that purposely causes suffering to another living thing & calls it a sport?
