Bursaspor win the Super League

Bursaspor has clinched the Turkish league title, beating Beşiktaş 2-1 in a Sunday match at home, becoming the second team outside Istanbul to win the Turkish league, after Trabzonspor.

Going into the final day of the Turkcell Super League’s 2009-2010 season, Bursaspor was just one point behind and praying for a Fenerbahche slip-up against cup winner Trabzonspor.

As Bursaspor won 2-1 against Besiktas and rival Fenerbahce could not break the 1-1 draw against Trabzonspor, the green-white side reached their first championship.

This season’s success story has been Bursaspor, a team rooted in the country’s automotive and textile industry capital of Bursa.
