Champions League Semi-finals Draw:Road to Lisbon going through from Madrid for Chelsea / UEFA Breaking News

UEFA-Champions League-Semi-Final-Draw-12

Atletico Madrid vs Chelsea Real Madrid vs Bayern The first-leg of semi-finals will be played on April 22 and 23, while the second will be April 29 and 30. Brace yourselves for a few weeks of Courtois guff.

helsea’s dramatic victory over Paris St Germain and Real’s narrow aggregate win over Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals earned both a place in the last four of Europe’s premier club competition, where they are joined by Barcelona’s conquerors Atletico Madrid and holders Bayern Munich, who beat Manchester United.

Mourinho, 51, left Madrid in acrimonious circumstances in the summer – having led them to the 2011/12 La Liga title during his three-year reign – to rejoin Chelsea, who he led to two Premier League titles and an FA Cup victory during a successful spell from 2004 to 2007.

The Portuguese has faced Real four times in Europe as a manager, all during his time as Porto boss, and has never beaten them, losing three of the matches and drawing the other.

Diego Simeone’s men, despite the absence of star striker – and Chelsea’s main summer target – Diego Costa, ended Barcelona’s six-year run of semi-final appearances with a thoroughly-merited 2-1 agreate triumph on Wednesday.

Like Chelsea, Atletico are still on course for the dream Double of domestic crown and the Champions League, although the two-legged tie will represent their first semi-final appearance in the main European competition since 1974.

Jose Mourinho’s side, chasing a third final in seven seasons, are away at the Vicente Calderon in the first leg.

Atletico have a one point lead at the top of La Liga and defeated Spanish rivals Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Nine-time winners Real are at home to holders Bayern in the first leg, to be played April 22-23.

The clash has extra spice as on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could line up against his parent club for Atletico, despite suggestions that Mourinho would try to block the Belgian from playing – unless Atletico paid hefty compensation.

In the other semi-final draw, Bayern Munich will face Real Madrid, meaning Chelsea could face the winner of either of those two in the final in Lisbon.
