Kobe Bryant’s representatives are going to meet with executives of Turkish club Besiktas Istanbul next week to discuss the terms of contract, if Kobe decides to wear Besiktas jersey during NBA lockout.

Seref Yalcin, head of basketball operations for Besiktas, informed turkish reporters, the club was hopeful of signing the five-time NBA champion and Olympic gold medalist for USA Team.

“At the moment there’s a 50 per cent chance that Kobe may come to Istanbul,Turkey,” stated the Besiktas official. “After the meeting on the (July) 30th everything and every detail of terms will be clear. Turkish basketball team Besiktas plans to have more negotiations with Kobe Bryant’s representatives on July 30th in hopes that the Lakers star will join the team.

Besiktas already has made the most noteable signing, by landing New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams to play during the lockout. Last year the Istanbul giants had signed former NBA MVP Allen Iverson.

Kobe Bryant has not confirmed his plans regarding the NBA lockout yet, however has declared he would be lured into playing in either Turkey or China if the NBA season was delayed due to the lockout. He has a connection with Turkey as he already has a sponsorship agreement with Turkish Airlines since last year’s end.

Kobe Bryant : For Besiktas money is not a issue

The 13-time All-Star, 32 years old Los Angeles Laker All-star guard has three years remaining on his Lakers’ contract, which earns him ca. 22 Mil. dollars and Besiktas had asked the international basketball federation for its approval of possible Bryant deal, before the turkish basketball season starts in October.

“Kobe wants some time to think about it,” Besiktas head of basketball operations stated. “We firmly believe that his answer is going to be positive. Money will not be a issue.”
