Chelsea close to transfer Hulk for £40m Latest Chelsea transfer News / Premier League Transfer News

Porto star Hulk is seen as a key acquisition to play on the right flank, although there are fears the deal could drag on till the transfer window’s final day at the end of the month.

While Chelsea are no closer to matching Porto’s £40m valuation, they are optimistic a fee of around £32m will be agreed, especially as the Brazil international has told the Portuguese club he wants to leave. With differing reports claiming Porto’s asking price to be anywhere between £40 million and £60 million, it could be some time yet before any deal is done. If the 26-year-old forward is to become a Blue then it is likely that he will have to continue to talk up his desire to leave, as he did recently.

Portuguese giants will let him leave for £38m.

Talks between both clubs will accelerate in the coming days after Hulk’s Olympics involvement came to an end at the weekend.

But Porto’s valuation is threatening to scupper the transfer despite Hulk’s attempts to force through a move to Stamford Bridge.

Hulk has told Porto he wants to leave this summer. The Brazilian says he is desperate for a move to either England or Spain with Chelsea still keen on landing the 26-year-old.

“I have left the door open to be transferred,” said Hulk earlier in the week.

“My preference is to play in England or Spain because they are the most watched league in the world. Now is a great time for me to move.”

Di Matteo said: “These discussions are down to the club. They will have these discussions with the players who have been phenomenal in their time with the club.

Hulk and his agent have stayed diplomatic throughout and maintained that the player was happy to stay at Porto, but did have a desire to join the European Champions.

Many Chelsea supporters assumed that a deal was pretty much done and it has been close on many occasions. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich however is standing firm and is not prepared to pay what Porto want, in the meantime he has began looking elsewhere for that fire power up top that they desire.

Brazilian international Hulk who is 26-years-old is seen as the answer to Chelsea’s wing and forward options. He possesses great skill and a real threat when cutting in from the right wing, he also has the ability to play as a striker which is where Chelsea are looking to improve.

Hulk has an impressive goal scoring record for Porto scoring 55 times in just 76 appearances and Porto are doing everything in their power to keep hold of their star asset.

It is unclear how much Abramovich is willing to pay for Hulk but the longer this saga goes on, the more likely there could be a dramatic transfer dealine day for both Chelsea and Porto.

Hulk’s Agent Theodor Fonseca said ” Hulk absolutly will play Barclays Premier League this year”
