Manchester United’s star Wayne Rooney began transfer talks with Chelsea, Blues will bid for England international.

Wayne Rooney was due to sit down for emergency talks with David Moyes today however reports suggest that they have been put on hold.

The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with moves to Chelsea, after Sir Alex Ferguson claimed last season he received a verbal request from Wayne Rooney to be transferred.

Rooney verbally requested a transfer in May, according to outgoing boss Sir Alex Ferguson, and Chelsea have all been linked with a summer move for the player.

But Rooney is yet to comment publicly on the speculation amid reports he disputes Ferguson’s version of events.

A previous transfer request in the autumn of 2010 ended with Rooney signing a new deal at Old Trafford and helping the club to the Premier League title later that season.

Chelsea have already begun preparations for a counter-offer to send to Old Trafford for Rooney’s services, according to Mullock’s report. Rooney has reportedly topped the wish list of incoming manager Jose Mourinho.

However, Rooney still seems willing to sit down with the Red Devils’ new manager DavidMoyes and work out a re-signing with United, . But the 27-year-old will only accept staying in Old Trafford for at least his current wages, if not more.
