Cuban volleyball star Leonel Marshall transferred to Fenerbahçe

One of Cuba’s most talented and famous sports star, Leonel Marshall has been reported to have transferred to Fenerbahçe Volleyball team.

Fenerbahçe, who won the Aroma Men’s Super League 2009-10, announced that they have transferred Cuban superstar Leonel Marshall, and are aiming to be the European Champions for next season.

It is expected for the Cuban super star to sign the official papers next week at the Şükrü Saracoğlu press room which will finalize the transfer.

Who is Leonel Marshall?

Born in Cuba, 1979, with a height of 1.96 metres (6.4 feet) is famous for his ability in jumping high into the air.

Marshall was first noticed at the Sydney Sumer Olympics in 2000 as the youngest player of the Cuban volleyball team.

Marshall with his towering height plays as the main hitter of the team and can jump a reported 3.53 metres to block the ball while he can jump 3.83 metres to smash the ball.

The Cuban volleyball star spent a large part of his carrier in Italy, where he played as the main hitter of teams such as Livorno, Copra Piacenza and Roma.

Marshall, played in Copra Piacenza for the last two seasons and won the Volleyball Top Teams cup in 2006 and the CEV Cup in 2008. In 2009 the Cuban star won the Italian Voleyball League with Copra Piacenza.
