Renown US actor Danny Glover defended the cause of the five Cuban antiterrorists in prison in the United States, mostly known as the Cuban Five, during a panel organized in the distinguished Howard University.

Washington / NationalTurk – Danny Glower, also an activist for social justice spoke about Gerardo Hernandez, a man who completes an unfair double life imprisonment plus 15 years in a federal jail of Victorville, California, and called him “my brother.”

Glover commented that every time he visits Gerardo, he goes out with a renovated energy and capacity, only for having been sitting down there with Gerardo from four to six hours as told by the National Committee for the Freedom of the Cuban Five.

Meanwhile, Gloria La Riva, coordinator of the solidary group, gave to know the antecedents of the case and explained that Hernandez, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez and Rene Gonzalez (in supervised freedom now) defended their country from terrorist attacks.

La Riva emphasized that the accused were victims of the US government’s political prosecution.

According to La Riva dozens of journalists from Miami, in the most hysterical and harmful way, worked to condemn the antiterrorists.

Around 200 law students and professors of the educational institution, as well as interested people, in their majority Afro-Americans, participated in the meeting.

Among the speakers, there were also lawyer Martin Garbus, a member of the appeal team.

The lawyer referred to the bad behavior of the US government from Washington with his secret payments of millions of dollars to journalists from Miami that worked to condemn the Cuban Five during the trial.

Former colonel Lawrence Wilkerson, former chief of the cabinet of former US Secretary of State Colin Powell between 2002 and 2005, condemned the serious injustice that has been made since the arrest of the Cuban Five on September 12, 1998 in USA.
