Christoph Daum Fenerbahçe chaos continues as Turkish club demands cocaine test

Fenerbahçe and Christoph Daum are yet again at the centre of a scandal after a Turkish media source reported that Fenerbahçe had asked for a cocaine test from the German manager.

It has been alleged that Christoph Daum has been summoned by the Turkish club to take a routine health check but blood samples would also be taken from the German manager to test for cocaine.

Relations between the German manager and Turkish giants, Fenerbahçe were said to be in breaking point and the Turkish club was allegedly looking for ways to send Daum away from the club without paying the German manager any compensation.

The same news agency also reported that Daum who was booked a medical check at the Acıbadem hospital which is owned by a Fenerbahçe board member by the club, changed hospitals and underwent more simple medical checks at the Istanbul Cerrahi hospital.

The situation has caused more question marks then answers. If the German manager was confident in himself then why didn’t he accept the more thorough test at the Acıbadem hospital?

Have Fenerbahçe got any write to ask for a cocaine test from the German manager?

Relations have been extremely bad between Fenerbahçe and Christoph Daum as the Turkish giants lost the championship to Bursaspor last month in a scandalous way.

Fenerbahçe were only a win away from being the 2009-10 champions of the Turkish Super League but drew their last game against Trabzonspor. Fenerbahçe then depended on Bursaspor and Beşiktaş to draw but Bursaspor won the Istanbul side 2-1.

The scandal occurred in the final minutes of the Fenerbahçe Vs Trabzonspor match where an announcement was made saying the Bursaspor Vs Beşiktaş match was 2-2, allegedly calling for the Fenerbahçe players to play in a more controlled manor in case they concede a goal.

Fenerbahçe fans rushed to the pitch after the final whistle celebrating the championship but it soon emerged that a blunder somewhere by Fenerbahçe had caused the wrong announcement and that Bursaspor match had finished 2-1.

Violence followed with angry fans burning sections of the Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saraçoğlu stadium and rioting in the streets of the Kadıköy region ended in several people being injured, cars being attacked and shops being broken into.

Though Fenerbahçe chairman Aziz Yıldırım announced in front of the media that he was to blame for the missed championship, close sources to the chairman had said that he was especially angry with Daum.

Daum has a three year contract with Fenerbahçe receiving a reported €3 million a year, and has served only one year of his contract.

This is not the first time Daum has been involved in such a test as the German manager had been rejected the position to manage the German national side after hair samples proved that he had used cocaine which he later admitted.

Daum also earned Fenerbahçe two consecutive championships in the 2003-04 and 2004-05 Turkish Super League but resigned after losing the championship to Galatasaray in the 2005-06 season.

Daum was also reported to have been constantly in the team’s training ground even though the players are on holiday.

When asked by the Turkish press about what he does in the training ground, the German manager’s translator answered saying all we do his fly paper planes all day.

It was alleged that Fenerbahçe had forced the German manager to come to the coaching ground even though there was nothing to do as a way of trying to put pressure on the manager to leave.

There is also a media ban on anyone from the Fenerbahçe board or representatives to speak with the media without asking (permission) chairman Aziz Yıldırım.
