Del Piero signs new Juventus deal

Del piero signs one year contract with JuventusJuventus legend Italian striker Alessandro Del Piero has signed a one-year contract extension at Juventus

The new deal confirms the 36-year-old plays his time at the Turin club into a remarkable 19th year, having joined Juventus in 1993 from Padova.

“I’m enjoying myself, I’m happy to be here today as it’s what I wanted for next year,” stated Del Piero. “It wasn’t difficult to reach an agreement because there wasn’t much to discuss.”

A statement from Juventus followed: “Juventus Football Club announces Alessandro Del Piero has signed a new one year contract. The new agreement signed today by club president Andrea Agnelli and the player is valid until 30 June 2012.”

Del Piero’s previous deal was going to end in the summer. The already legendary Juve captain has made more than 660 appearances for the club and holds the all-time scoring record at Juve with 283 goals.

Del Piero has scored seven league goals for Juventus in 30 appearances this season. He won a World for Italy in 2006. Del Piero has won five Serie A titles, four Italian Supercups and one UEFA Champions League trophy with italian giants Juventus.
