Dutchman Wesley Sneijder has transfer to Manchester United / BPL News

Netherlands star midfielder Wesley Sneijder, was transferred from Galatasaray to Manchester United for £16m.

New Manchester United Dutch manager Louis van Gaal would like to bring in Wesley Sneijder from Galatasaray.

The Dutch midfielder has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and now the Sun say he could make a £16m move.

Galatasray Chairman  Unal Aysal claims he would not stand in Wesley Sneijder’s way if Manchester  United pay his release fee of £16million.

“Sneijder is a good player,” he said. “We want to keep him at Galatasaray.

“If Galatasaray receive an offer of €20million, we do not have the luxury of saying no. That is stipulated in the contract.

“All I can say is that if any club pays us €20million and he wants to go, we can’t force him to stay because it is written in the contract.”

The midfielder has fuelled speculation he could be moving to Old Trafford by claiming he would find it hard to resist an offer from his Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal to play under him at United.

Wesley Sneijder is one of those players who seems far older than he is. The former Ajax youth player has racked up 105 caps for Holland, having come to the world’s attention at Euro 2004.

Since then he has worn Real Madrid’s No10 shirt and led Jose Mourinho’s Internazionale to Champions League glory in 2010, scoring against Barcelona in the semi-final and assisting for Diego Milito’s opener in the final against Bayern Munich.

After repeated links to Manchester United, Sneijder eventually pitched up at the Galatasaray retirement home in January 2013 alongside the likes of Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Eboué.

But somehow the 5ft 7in Dutchman is still only 30. What’s more, he only celebrated his 30th birthday last month, and while the rest of the Holland squad were popping balloons and enjoying cheese and isotonic drinks at their pre-World Cup training camp, Louis van Gaal was plotting to lure his midfield maestro to Old Trafford.

The Turkish club want £16m, and Van Gaal believes the man they call “The Sniper” for his ability to deliver perfect passes and score from set pieces will get better with age like a fine Gouda.
