Ethnic Minorities becoming U.S. Majority

Racial and ethnic minorities will become majority in the United States by mid-century, demographers highlighted after analyzing statistics from the census of 2010 to be released soon.

Demographers like William Frey of the Brookings Institution realized this situation by checking that women of the minority groups give birth to more children in the United States than the rest of the women in this country.

Frey said that the census will show a majority of minorities among younger Americans, and will make clear the need to educate a new and different child population.

Many US States have white populations below 50 percent

The states of Hawaii, California, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, New York and Mississippi now have white populations below 50 percent among children under five.

Illinois, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, South Carolina and Delaware, are likely to follow suit in the next decade, and minorities will outnumber the current mostly white population.
