Former Besiktas star writes letter to Turkish minister of sports

As Turkey Football Federation (TFF) has its hands full with replacing manager Guus Hiddink with Turkish coach Abdullah Avcı, its regulation regarding Turkish footballers rights raises concerns among many players. Former Besiktas player Ali Cansun wrote a letter to Turkish Minister for Sports in the name of all players.

Istanbul / NationalTurk – Ali Cansun Begecarslan, a former Besiktas player, who currently plays for Eyupspor, a 3rd league side, takes initiative to support and defend the rights of many Turkish footballers and has written a letter to Suat Kilic, the Turkish minister of sports.

The striker, who was the top-scorer in 1999 FIFA Youth Championship conveys his concerns regarding TFF’s regulation over Turkish footballers rights. In his letter to Suat Kilic, he speaks on behalf of many Turkish footballers, and mentions important issues on footballers right and how the injustice of TFF will affect the future of Turkish Football.

The lack of an union of Proffesional Footballers in Turkey, the increased limit for numbers of foreign footballers can play at Super League side despite the newly appointed age limit, which prevents footballers older than 30 to play in lower Turkish leagues are shown as issues by Ali Cansun which violate the rights of many Turkish footballers and puts them in danger of losing their jobs. He also voices his concern when TFF approved a change in law and made local courts the competent authority. Ali Cansun also underlined the lack of courts of arbitration for sport.
