Prosecution office has started an investigation over yhe death of former Turkish intelligence officer Kaşif Kozinoglu, died in prison.

Ankara / NationalTurk – Turkish prosecution office starts an investigation over Kaşif Kozinoğlu’s, the most senior MİT official to have ever been tried, unexpected death in the prison. The former senior Turkish intelligence officer died after he was taken to a hospital shortly after he collapsed in his prison cell on last Sunday. The investigation is reported to be led by Güngör Karakoç, Chief prosecutor of the republic. Kozinoglu’s cellmates Hasan Ataman Yıldırım and Atilla Uğur are going to be the first persons to testify.

His sudden death stirred confusion in Turkey. Kaşif Kozinoğlu, a defendant under arrest in the ODA TV case and a former member of highest rank of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), died of a heart attack Nov. 12 at Silivri Prison near Istanbul. The time of his death indicated in the initial report was 19:30. The Silivri Hospital, however, where he was taken to on Sunday, issued another report showing the time of Kozanoglu’s death as 19:10, indicating that the patient died on his way to the hospital. The discrepancy was later explained as the hospital noted that Kozanoglu’s heart had stopped at 19:10, but paramedics tried to restart it using CPR until 19:30, and later declared this as the time of death.

Former Turkish Intelligence Agency Ace’s Death to be investigated by state

Kaşif Kozinoğlu was to appear before the judge on Nov. 22. for ODA TV case. Arrested within the scope of the ODA TV case, Kozinoğlu was to appear before the judge at the case’s first hearing Nov. 22. He was charged with being a member of a terror organization and leaking the state’s confidential documents. Administrators of the Odatv news portal are being accused of carrying out the media plan of a clandestine gang called Ergenekon, which allegedly plans to overthrow the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP). Kaşif Kozinoğlu was on trial standing accused of sharing classified documents and state secrets with the news portal ODA TV.
