How EURO 2012 has changed Warsaw and Poland

Although the larger motorway will link the Polish capital with the rest of Europe, the main railway stations have been renewed and there is no sleazy bazaar around the Stadium of the Decade.

Four days before the first European Championships match Poland makes the balance of the investment. With Euro 2012 Warsaw was in a league of cities and has become a metropolis which is perfectly connected with the world. Polish residences remember well the ugly bazaar surrounding the old Decade Stadium. Stinking, leaking and sticky place with dirty train stations. But this is a Warsaw which does not exist any more.

EURO 2012 in Warsaw, the capital of Poland

The zenith of emotions is not just on football – the construction takes your breath away. In June came the last layer of asphalt on the motorway in the direction of Warsaw C and this is a famous episode in the vicinity of Zyrardow, which the Chinese went down last year, and even two months there was laying only sand. Politicians were very sceptical that Euro 2012 will not be finished at time. But they did it. This is a great success of companies which build the entire route A2 between Lodz and Warsaw.

All changes to the EURO 2012 in Warsaw

In the capital of Poland – Warsaw, especially for the EURO 2012 football games event, the projects have been implemented for about 23 billion Euros, State and local government projects in Warsaw are worth about another 4.5 billion Euros. Not surprisingly, the residents of Warsaw crowd for visiting the projects – in fact the new railway line attracts more passengers who want to visit Warsaw ahead of Euro 2012 than travellers going on a plane. There were discussions, that the Eastern Railway Stations are working perhaps better than Central Stations in the center of Warsaw.
