New Delhi, Jan 20/Nationalturk – India Monday successfully test-fired 4,000 km-range nuclear weapon capable surface-to-surface Agni-IV missile.

Officials said the 4,000 km-range nuclear weapon capable Agni-IV missile was tested off the coast of State of Odisha near Dhamra in Bhadrak district this morning.

They said the test was successful.

Third test of the Agni-IV

It was the third test-firing of the missile, which has the second-largest striking range in India’s weapon arsenal.

India’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed and tested the new missile.

According to media reports, Agni-IV missile has many cutting-edge technologies which can meet global standards. It has been branded as a quantum leap in terms of missile technology by DRDO as it is lighter in weight and has two stages of Solid Propulsion and a Payload with Re-entry heat shield.

The 20-metre tall missile weighs 17 tonnes and has two stages of solid propulsion.

The missile’s last successful test was conducted on September 19, 2012 from the same base.
