Legendary Indian film actor Dilip Kumar has been admitted to a hospital after he complained of uneasiness.
Mumbai, Sept 16/Nationalturk – The 90-year-old legendary Indian film actor Dilip Kumar has been admitted to a hospital after he complained of uneasiness. The doctors have termed his condition as stable.
Dilip Kumar, who had earned the title of ‘tragedy king’ during his film days, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Sunday evening. “He was hospitalized after he complained of uneasiness, chest pain and fever. He was suffering from viral fever since September 13,” his wife Saira Bano, who was also a film actress, said.
She told reporters today that she brought Dilip to hospital as a precaution. “He is in ICU of the hospital. The doctors have said that he is fine and his condition is stable. There is nothing to worry,” she said.
His well wishers have been praying for his well being.
‘Film actor kept under observation’
The spokesman of Lilavati hospital said the film actor has been kept under observation. A team of doctors have been monitoring his condition.
“He (Dilip Kumar) was brought to the hospital around 0845 hours yesterday. He reportedly had breathing problems and he has been admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU). He is under the care of cardiologists,” he said.
The hospital spokesman said there was no cause of concern. “Dilip Kumar is absolutely stable and has been kept in the ICU just for observation,” he added.
Earlier, there was media reports that Dilip Kumar had suffered a mild heart attack. However, the family has quashed such reports, saying, “nothing such happened”.
90-yr-old Dilip Kumar was born in Pakistan
90 –year-old Dilip Kumar has performed iconic roles in classic Hindi films like Devdas, Madhumati, Mughal-e-Azam and Ganga Jamuna.
He was born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922 in Peshawar (now in Pakistan) and his acting career spanned six decades and over 60 films. The actors has received many film award for his brilliant performance
In 1998, Dilip was awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian award in Pakistan, by Pakistan government.
