Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed his successful five-day visit to Japan.

New Delhi, Sept 3/Nationalturk – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ended his five-day visit to Japan.

Indian PM Narendra Modi, whose rightwing Hindu party BJP had won general elections this year, had arrived in Tokyo on a five day visit on Saturday. During his five day visit to the country, Indian PM met Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and other Japanese leaders.

Japanese PM has promised 3.5 trillion Yen (USD 35 billion or 2,10,000 crore) to India over next five years for various developmental works.

India and Japan have also agreed to enhance cooperation in defence and other strategic areas and also signed five pacts covering defence exchanges, cooperation in clean energy, roads and highways, healthcare and women while vowing to take their relationship to newer level.

Japan has lifted ban on six Indian firms

In a significant development, Japan also lifted ban on six Indian firms including Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which had been imposed in the aftermath of 1998 nuclear tests.

Indian PM invited Japanese investors to invest in India. “India was awaiting the investments with a ‘red carpet’ and not ‘red tape’ as rules and procedures have been eased by his government,” he said.

Indian PM and Japanese PM also agreed to enhance their defence and strategic cooperation to a new level and decided to speed up negotiations on civil nuclear deal that could not be concluded now.

While addressing a reception hosted by the Japan India Association and Japan-India Parliamentary Friendship league yesterday, Indian PM said Japan and India shared a spiritual partnership, and noted that the Japan-India Association is 110 years old – in fact, older than any other such association in Japan.

He suggested expanding links between people’s representatives. He also suggested creation of a Young Parliamentary Association and a Women Parliamentary Association; and visits from representatives of state legislative assemblies from India, and local government representatives from Japan. The Prime Minister urged representatives from Japan to visit cities other than Delhi.
