New Delhi, Oct 31/Nationalturk – 21-year-old Indian beauty queen Srishti Rana has been crowned Miss Asia Pacific World 2013.

A graduate in Bachelor in Journalism and Mass Communication, Srishti beat 49 contestants and won the Miss Asia Pacific crown in Busan, South Korea. She wore a Falguni & Shane Peacock gown as she was crowned by one a fellow Indian, Himangini Singh Yadu who was last year’s winner.

Miriam George from Egypt and Evgenia Klishina from Kazakhstan were placed second and third in the beauty pageant.

India has won two consecutive titles

This is the first time that India has won two consecutive titles at the Miss Asia Pacific World pageant. Himangini Singh Yadu had won the crown last year.  She gets the distinction of being fourth Indian to win the crown after Zeenat Aman(in 1970), Dia Mirza (2000) and Himangini Singh Yadu won the crown for India during earlier years.

Srishti, who hails from Indian city of Faridabad and counts painting and music among her interests, was the second runners-up at the Femina Miss India 2013.

This is a dream come true: Srishti

“This is a dream come true! I am very proud of myself right now and still can’t believe that I have won the crown,” said 21-year-old Srishti in her victory statement. She thanked god, family and friends, and others, who stood by her and supported her.

After Srishti’s win, many Indians took to Twitter to congratulate her. “Congratulations Srishti Rana for making India proud,” read most of the posts.
