Iranian leader's aide Velayati warns of NATO' attempts to wage war over Turkey on Syria

Senior Advisor of the Iranian Supreme Leader for International Affairs Ali Akbar Velayati warns of NATO’s attempts to wage war on Syria under the pretext of defending one of its members, Turkey.

Tehran / NationalTurk – “The West is attempting to get the NATO involved in regional developments,” Velayati said in Tehran on Saturday.

“The West is digging a hole to entrap Turkey, Syria and the entire region in a bid to overshadow the Islamic Awakening,” he added.

Velayati called on the regional states, specially Syria, Turkey and Iraq, to keep vigilant about the plots hatched by the US and its allies against the region.

His remarks came after it was proved that the weapons and military equipment recently discovered and seized by the Syrian Army in Idlib province were sent by the NATO to provide arms and logistic support for terrorists in Syria.

But he fails to mention the current crisis between Turkey and Syria over shelling of various Turkish towns allegedly by Syrian Army.

Iran’s Fars news agency smoothens its tone accusing NATO and not Turkey for the plot in Syria

The seized weapons in Salqain district in Idlib included 7.26 guns along with other weapons as well as boxes of gunshots with the words “NATO BALL” carved on them.

The military experts believed that the weapons did not belong to Turkey as the country’s weapons always carry some Turkish words.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad earlier in a meeting with his Tunisian counterpart Muhammad Monsef al-Marzouki in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, had warned of the plots hatched by the enemies and the NATO to dominate the Muslim nations.

“Today the enemies of the regional nations and the NATO forces are ready to dominate all Islamic states,” Ahmadinejad said during the meeting on the sidelines of an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Mecca mid August.

Iran : Enemies of Muslims try to stir strife among sects, Iran supports all Muslims without considering their faiths !

He said enemies are attempting hard to stir sectarian strife between the Shiite and Sunni Muslims, and underlined that the Iranian nation supports the Tunisian, Egyptian, Yemeni and Palestinian Muslims without considering their religious faith (Shiite or Sunni).

His warnings alluded to the recent conflicts in the region, specially in Syria, where different arrogant powers and their regional allies and proxies are seeking hard to topple the country’s Muslim state. The Arab country has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.

Hundreds of people, including members of the security forces, have been killed, when some protest rallies turned into armed clashes.

The government blames outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups for the deaths, stressing that the unrest is being orchestrated from abroad.

Iranian Fars News agency states taht in October 2011, calm was eventually restored in the Arab state after President Assad started a reform initiative in the country, but Israel, the US and its Arab allies are seeking hard to bring the country into chaos through any possible means. Tel Aviv, Washington and some Arab capitals have been staging various plots in the hope of increasing unrests in Syria.

In relevant remarks in July, an American author and historian also said that the ‘NATO death squads’ were involved in the deadly July 18 bombing in the Syrian capital that targeted senior officials.

“We see the pro-NATO forces, the NATO death squads delivering on that,” said Dr. Webster Griffin Tarpley, referring to the bomb attack on the headquarters of the National Security Bureau in Damascus that killed Syrian Defense Minister Dawoud Rajiha, Deputy Defense Minister Assef Shawkat, and Assistant Vice President Hassan Turkmani.

“I would stress the role of NATO and indeed of the CIA because we know the press today here, the Wall Street Journal reminds us that the CIA is running communications, coordination… for the Free Syrian Army, for the death squads,” Tarpley stated.

Iran is one of the countries supporting Beshar Al-Assad government in Syria and calls the free Syrian Army as terrorists. According to Iran the developments in Syria are the plot of USA and Israel and Turkey and some other Arabic Gulf States are being used as pawns.
