The investigation by Israel is being headed by a five man panel and is being chaired by former Supreme Court judge Yaakov Turkel, who was appointed by Netanyahu himself.

Netanyahu told the commission on Monday “I am convinced that at the end of your investigation, it will become clear that the state of Israel and the IDF acted in accordance with international law.”

The Israeli Defense Minister, Ehud Baraki is scheduled to give evidence on Tuesday while the army chief of staff, General Gabi Ashkenazi, will give his accounts on Wednesday.

None of the soldiers who boarded the Mavi Marmara will give evidence, which is being seen as an interesting fact.

Eight Turkish activists and a Turkish American citizen of just 19-year-old were shot dead by IDF soldiers.

Some eyewitness activists had said that some of the dead were shot in pointblank range and looked more like an execution then self defense.

Israeli soldiers had defended themselves, saying the activists had threatened the lives of the soldiers after beating some with poles and confiscating the elite Israeli Commandos fire weapons off of them.

However, later images emerged of activists who cared for the commandos who had taken to the lower deck.
