James Cameron interview about Avatar and the sequel

James Cameron is one of the most successful directors at present and arguably one of the most successful in the history of movies.

In this interview we see James Cameron’s sincere thoughts on Avatar, what inspired him to make the movie, his thoughts for the sequel which he is thinking about and many others questions which die hard Avatar and James Cameron fans are curious about.

interesting facts about Avatar:

– The Avatar movie is 40% live action and 60% photo-realistic CGI.

– The Avatar movie was originally planned to be made in 1999 after his huge hit Titanic, but the technology was not available to make it as the special effects were not up to the standard that James Cameron wanted.

– Also at the time when James Cameron first wanted to make the film, apparently no studio would fund the movie because it would have been in access of $400 million.

– James Cameron decided that the technology was appropriate for the movie after he saw Gollum in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

– So that the cast of the movie can be better prepared for the movie, they were all taken to Hawaii where they spent several days in jungles and forests to live like tribes.

– During the crews time in the jungle Zoe Saldana dressed up as a warrior complete with a tail. The cast did however stay at a hotel during the evenings and only went to the jungle during the day.

– Avatar is the most expensive movie to have ever been created with an alleged budget of $280,000,000 dollars.

– Sigourney Weaver has acted in a James Cameron Movie for the first time in 23 years after she appeared in the 1986 sci-fi horror movie, Aliens.

– In many parts of the movie, Sigourney Weaver’s avatar has a Stanford shirt as she attended Stanford University in the 70’s

– The language used by the Avatar’s was created from scratch by linguist Paul Frommer who James Cameron hired.

– The Na’vi language was created in such a way that the actors would be able to easily pronounce the words and also not resemble any language on earth.

– A total of 500 Na’vi words were created by linguist Paul Frommer.

– Though the year the movie takes place in is never stated, it is believed to take place in the year 2154 as the video logs that Jake records are from that year.

  1. It was mindblowing experiece to wath AVATAR in 3D.Cameron is the best director of all time,and my most favorite.If James reads an Indian epic ‘Mahabharata’ and understands it,I am quite sure he will dedicate his rest of the life to make movie on it..
