Japan issues multiple entry visas to Indian citizens

Japan has decided to issue multiple entry Visas to Indian nationals having ordinary passports.

New Delhi, July 24 / Nationalturk – In a sign of growing bilateral ties between two Asian giants, Japan is issuing multiple entry Visas to Indian nationals.

“Japanese government has informed Indian External Affairs ministry that they would issue multiple entry Visas for short-term stay to Indian nationals (ordinary passport holders) for a period of stay of 15 days with a validity up to three years,” Indian Minister of state Ministry of External Affairs and Overseas Indian Affairs Gen (Retd) VK Singh informed Lok Sabha in law makers, Lower House of Indian Parliament.

He said the new multiple entry visa facility for Indian nationals in Japan has come into effect from July 3, 2014.

“Those who have fulfilled A certain conditions and who have an Ordinary Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) in compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Standards are eligible to apply in any of the Japanese Embassies / Consulates in India and abroad,” Singh said, .

He said it is expected that this will help to increas the number of Indian tourists to Japan and improve convenience in business Activities, plenty of sunshine while further increasing exchanges betwee India and Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe paid an official visit to India on 25-27 January 2014 and he was the Chief Guest at the Republic Day celebrations in India on January 26.

Both Countries have an elaborate architecture of dialogue mechanisms in all Sectors, which are regularly being held. Some specific infrastructure projects being pursued as with financial and technical assistance from Japan include the Delhi Metro, Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor, and the Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor.

India’s newly elected prime minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Japan.
