Liverpool are ready to test the water with a £10million bid for Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen

Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old since Brendan Rodgers moved to the club from Swansea last month and the news comes despite there being a ‘no-poaching’ agreement between the two clubs as part of the agreement which took Rodgers to Anfield.

Liverpool have been quoted £15million by Swansea after last week asking the Welsh side to quote their price for the player, who is currently with the GB Olympic squad. The paper claims that Rodgers believes Allen is keen to move to Anfield and will put in a £10million bid over the next few days but that they will also offer Jonjo Shelvey on a season-long loan deal in order to push the deal through.

“I haven’t spoken to Joe since I have taken over,” new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup said that the weekend. “I haven’t spoken to any of the three Olympics players and we have not had any contact from Liverpool,” he added. Any deal is unlikely to be finalised until after GB’s involvement in the Olympics.

Liverpool Transfer News: Zenit In Martin Skrtel Link

Russian side Zenit St Petersburg are once again being linked with interest in Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel. The 27-year-old moved to Anfield from Zenit in a £6.5million deal in 2008 Russians are willing to offer the Slovakia international as much as £110,000 a week to return to the club where he spent four years before moving to Anfield. The paper adds that Zenit will offer Liverpool £14million.

Skrtel has also been linked with Napoli and Manchester City. Napoli’s interest ended after hearing of Skrtel’s wage demands – said in Italy to have been £30,000 a week after tax – while City’s interest in still at the speculation stage.

Skrtel admitted last week that he had received offers from other clubs but he added that talks had stalled over a new contract at Anfield.

Liverpool Transfer News: Silva Moves To Barnsley

Young Liverpool winger Toni Silva has joined Championship side Barnsley on a free transfer. The 18-year-old joined from Benfica in 2009 but failed to make an impression at Anfield and scored once in 15 games during a loan spell at League Two side Northampton last season.
