At least 11 people including a judge were killed in suicide bombing and firing inside a court room in Pakistani capital Islamabad on Monday.

Islamabad, March 3/Nationalturk – Two days after terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced month long ceasefire, at least 11 people including a judge were killed in a terrorist attack inside a court in Pakistani capital Islamabad on Monday.

Police said  two suicide bombers entered in the courtroom of additional judge in F-8 area in Islamabad this morning.

“The bombers fired and lobbed hand grenade in the room. Later, they blew themselves up when police tried to overpower them,” they said.

Police said eleven people including Additional Session Judge Rafaqat Awan were killed in the terrorist attack.

Over two dozen others were injured and they have been evacuated to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where doctors are attending on them. Among the injured were lawyers and civilians.

Area sealed off

After the terrorist attack, police and other security personnel cordoned off the court area and launched search operation. Besides, forensic team was collecting evidences from the court area, where the terrorist attack took place.

Officials said they were trying to ascertain motive of the terrorist attack. “Probably the attack was carried to free some prisoner from the court”.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior minister Ch Nisar Ali have condemned the terrorist attack.

The terrorist attacks come two days after terrorist group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) declared one-month long ceasefire in the country.

TTP denies involvement

After today’s attack, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid called media offices and denied involvement of his outfit in the attack.

Pakistan newspaper, The News quoted TTP spokesman as saying that the outfit had nothing to do with the two suicide attacks since it had announced a ceasefire.

He said that all the groups operating under the umbrella of the TTP were obliged to follow orders of Taliban’s chief Mullah Fazlullah.
