International UN envoy Kofi Annan visits Turkey to see refugee camps along Turkey Syria border.

Ankara / NationalTurk – The UN-Arab League envoy for Syria is expected to visit camps along the Turkey Syria border where shootings by Syrian troops from the Syrian side wounded six souls inside Turkish territory Monday.

Kofi Annan’s visit comes after Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu invited him over the weekend after an increase in the number of Syrian refugees arriving at the Turkey Syria border recently.

Un Syria envoy Kofi Annan is expected to visit Syrian refugee camps in the southeastern Turkish provinces of Hatay and Kilis, where shooting from Syrian side of the border wounded four Syrians and two Turks on Turkish soil, causing panic among the poor Syrian refugees.

Turkey received a record number of Syrian refugees last week as several thousands fled to escape clashes in their hometowns in Syria close to the Turkey Syria border, pushing up the total to more than 25,000.

Kofi Annan stayed for a few hours in Turkey and left for his original destination in Iran later in the day to speak the rising tensions in the Middle East with Iranian president Ahmadinejad and his Islamist government.
