Kofi Annan to visit Tehran next week, Iran FM

Kofi Annan, the United Nations and Arab League special envoy for Syrian affairs, will visit Tehran next week to discuss the Syrian issue, IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi.

Salehi said that the visit which was initially slated for last week was postponed due to Annan’s tight schedule relating to his so-called six-point peace plan for Syria.

Annan told at a closed session of the UN Security Council on Monday that Syrian authorities had agreed to an April 10 deadline to begin implementing the plan.

The plan calls for an immediate ceasefire by both government troops and opposition fighters, provision of humanitarian aid to those in need and launch of a broad Syrian dialogue without foreign intervention.

More than 9,000 people have been killed in Syria since the outbreak of popular unrest against President Bashar al-Assad’s rule in March 2011, the UN has estimated. The Syrian authorities blame the violence on “armed terrorist gangs” affiliated with al-Qaeda.

In my view, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content material as you probably did, the internet shall be much more useful than ever before.
