Kyrgyzstan’s deposed leader flees country after gunshots in rally

The Kyrgyzstan President Kurmanbek Bakiyev who had lost control of the government to supporters of the opposition leaders last week, has reportedly left the country.

The BBC new agency reported on there website that the Kyrgyzstan leader Kurmanbek Bakiyev had left the country on a plane to Kazakhstan.

The deposed leader of Kyrgyzstan was forced to leave the countries capital, Bishkek, when thousands of opposition supporters stormed the capital in a deadly rally which saw 100 people dead and scores injured.

Bakiyev had fled to the South of the country, to the city of Osh where most of the former leaders support was centred.

The news came today after shots were fired in a rally in southern Kyrgyzstan where the deposed president was making a speech to gather support to retake the government.

Shots were fired from the crowed of an estimated 5000 people at the rally just after the former president had begun to speak.

The opposition leader, Roza Otunbayeva had self proclaimed to be the caretaker of Kyrgyzstan until a new election after six months.
