Lady Gaga gives $1.5 million to Zynga’s Japan recovery effort

Zynga announced today that Lady Gaga will donate $1.5 million to the company’s joint effort with Save the Children for disaster relief in Japan.

The money will go to Save the Children and the American Red Cross.

The singer raised the money through sales of her Japan prayer bracelets.

According to WaIn the past two weeks, Zynga, the company behind online games such as CityVille, FarmVille and Cafe World, has offered special virtual goods to players and donated the money generated by those sales to Save the Children.

According to a news release from Zynga, the company has donated more than $3 million to Japan.

Lady Gaga is also announcing a contest to raise money for Japan. She’ll fly the winner out to meet her at a show on the Monster Ball Tour.
