Winking: Domagoj Vida gestures towards Bafetimbi Gomis

Lyon have reacted angrily to suggestions of match rigging after the French online gaming authority opened an investigation into their questionable 7-1 win over pathetic Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

Paris / NationalTurk – The 1-7 result which secured Olympic Lyon unlikely qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League and sending Holland’s Ajax to Europe League. The authority, Arjel, are “currently carrying out checks” into the result in Zagreb on Wednesday. Lyon needed to make up a goal difference of seven in Group D to reach the knockout rounds, and did so at the expense of Ajax, who lost 3-0 to Real Madrid in Amsterdam after having two goals controversially disallowed for offside.

The France striker Bafetimbi Gomis was the man of the match, scoring four goals, including the fastest ever Champions League hat-trick as Lyon took second place in the group.

Lyon Zagreb Ajax Referee : Who fixed whom or what: Football is dirty

France striker Bafetimbi Gomis scored a second-half hat-trick in seven minutes – the fastest in Champions League history – against 10-man Dinamo, who had little to play for after already being condemned to bottom place in the group.
Suspicions were raised when Lisandro Lopez hit Lyon’s fifth goal and TV cameras appeared to show pathetic Dinamo Zagreb’s Domagoj Vida, the idiot, winking and giving the thumbs up to Gomis as the striker tried to collect the ball from him.

The Ajax coach Frank de Boer claimed after his side’s exit from Champions League that he felt an investigation may be appropriate.

“Uefa should investigate what happened in Zagreb, if there was something unusual in that weird match. My assistants have told me that the goals came quick and easy, because you can’t normally score these goals in half an hour. But destiny was in our own hands and we had chances to qualify because our game was very even. I will have to see video replays of our disallowed goals.”

Lyon denies claims of match fixing : We are not inglorius Lyon

The Lyon sporting director Bernard Lacombe used cynicism: “It’s total rubbish, people should stop saying such things. Did they open an investigation at half-time in our game when it was 1-1? I don’t give a rats ass what the Ajax manager says. Apparently we are also responsible for the refereeing of the match in Amsterdam…”

A statement from ingloriousness suspect Lyon stated the Arjel investigation was “completely in tune with the procedures of the governing body for online betting. The club totally approves of this action that is undertaken whenever a sporting result is considered unusual and we regret that comments have not been confined to the sporting aspect of an incredible achievement both for Olympique Lyonnais and French football as a whole”.

Has Lyon brought a bag full of money to Zagreb locker room ?

After the result pathetic Dinamo Zagrep sacked their pathetic coach Krunoslav Jurcic – their pathetic executive director Zdravko Mamic calling their pathetic record in the competition “embarrassing”. The result left pathetic Dinamo Zagreb bottom of Group D with no points from six games, having scored just three goals while conceding 22.
