Serie A giant AC Milan wants Wesley Sneijder, but the Dutchman wants to play with Van Persie for Manchester United.
Inter Milan look set to ensure they cash in on star midfielder Wesley Sneijder in the coming transfer window Nov. 26 have confirmed that the player’s contract discussion with the club’s front office have not gone well.
the club requested that Sneijder take a pay cut down to only £200,000-per-week. While a king’s ransom to any normal person, it seems that it is just too hard on Sneijder to make the exception to his contract.
He now looks set for a major move to another club in January. Inter’s local rivals AC Milan have been tipped as potential suitors but the size of the player’s wage bill is likely to see it fail to transpire.
For many years Adriano Galliani used to claim that it would have been almost impossible for AC Milan to enter into any transfer deals with Inter, not after both Seedorf and Pirlo left Inter to cross the city and re-write the history books at AC Milan. But then, last summer, the two Milan clubs were involved in the deal that saw Cassano and Pazzini swap clubs, and things changed.
That’s why, now that Wesley Sneijder has become surplus to requirements at Inter – for the moment anyway – it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that AC Milan could think about bringing Wesley to the Rossonero side of the city. AC Milan are closely monitoring the situation between the Nerazzurri and the player.
Manchester United Transfer: Wesley Sneijder says no for AC Milan
Wesley Sneijder is at odds with Inter – and it’s in situations such as these that AC Milan have gone on to make all of their biggest and best recent transfer deals: they’ve sat and watched as ‘problems’ have developed, and then made the right move at just the right time.
That’s exactly what they did when they signed Ibrahimovic from Barça, that’s exactly what they did when they signed Cassano from Sampdoria. There is, however, a massive hurdle to overcome: the wage demands of the player – the main reason the friction between Sneijder and Inter started in the first place.
Everything has come to a head now (“He won’t play until he gives us an answer on the proposed contract change we’ve put on the table”) only because the player is also digging his heels in: he’s absolutely made up his mind that he won’t even consider accepting a reduction in his current pay deal.
Wesley knows that he has friends in the dressing room at Old Trafford Robin Van Persie the move will eventually only come down to one thing: wage demands. Inter could, of course, also receive an offer for the player from another club. And the player and Inter may also still be able to overcome their differences. But the player and his advisers haven’t received any serious offers yet and Sneijder doesn’t appear to be too keen on a move to United
However, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been a long time admirer of the Dutch midfielder and could make a splash to bring him to Old Trafford to see just what kind of damage he can do when linked up behind both Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.
