Great swap happen while being Uruguayan Edinson Cavani to Manchester City transfer, Balotelli problem child returns to Italy Napoli wants extra money.

Now, as far as we know, Manchester City made the offer for Cavani before the dust-up between Mario Balotelli and Roberto Mancini.

The Italian manager has spoken to the press and declared that he’ll never give up on the striker who’s usually more trouble than substance, but there’s a chance that the board and the men above Mancini have given up on trying to give Balotelli yet another chance.

If Edinson Cavani does arrive eventually, or any other striker for that matter, it’s pretty obvious who is the first player to go.

Napoli don’t want to enter another rebuilding stage. They aren’t exactly battling for the Serie A title as some (including us) expected, falling a tad short of Juventus as the differences in quality and depth between the Italian champions and the rest of the chasers are just too big to overcome.

While Cavani will certainly make things very comfortable financially, Napoli will struggle finding someone to fill the shoes of the striker who has scored 13 goals in 15 matches this season and 62 in 83 since joining from Palermo.

As you can guess, Manchester City don’t really care. Roberto Mancini and the owners are desperate to win a championship and falling behind 7 points from Manchester United is cause to open the wallet.

After spending too much money on rather mediocre players just before the end of the summer transfer window, it looks like this time, with City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain running the show, they’re going for the best money can buy.

Napoli recently claimed to have rejected a €55million bid from an unnamed club. Cavani’s contract contains a €63m buy-out clause.
