At least 60 violent deaths were reported in nine northern and central Mexican states over the weekend and monday as a result of armed conflicts between drug cartels and security forces.
According to the daily newspapers in Mexico, only in Michoacan state 23 people were killed by the drug cartels in clashes Saturday and Sunday.
The Attorney General said that the wave of killings in Michoacan was attributed to Los Caballeros Templarios drug cartel, which left various messages claiming responsibility for them.
The series of killings started after this drug gang placed in 13 municipalities on Friday various announcements against the accomplices of Jesus Mendez Vargas, an alleged successor capo of La Familia Michoacana and ally of Los Zetas.
The rest of the 35 killings also resulted from alleged actions by organized crime, between drug gangs and security forces.
