Nigeria: Gunmen kill 10 Christians and five Policemen in North-Eastern State separate attacks

Gunmen attacked people in the of village of  Chibok in North-eastern Nigerian State of Borno State killing 10 people believed to be Christians.

Borno State/NationalTurk- It was not clear who is behind the attack but the State Military Command says they suspect the radical Islamist group Boko Haram.

Boko Haram has carried out various attacks which target the security forces, government officials and reprisal attacks against Christians.

Residents of the village told local reporters that a group of men went from house to house in a largely Christian area of the remote village of Chibok on

“Suspected gunmen came at night and set people’s houses on fire before killing their victims, after they left, I counted 10 dead bodies” Nuhu Clark, a former councilor of the village who escaped the attack, told reporters.

Border with Cameroon also attacked by gunmen

Meanwhile, residents of Gamboru Ngala near the border with Cameroon said gunmen killed five policemen as they attacked a police station, immigrations and customs offices, as well as at least one church late on Sunday.

A Policeman who spoke on anonymity admitted the attack but added that there has been interruption in communications in the area as all the masts of the mobile networks have been destroyed earlier by Boko Haram Militants recently.

Human rights groups say that more than 3,000 people have been killed by Boko Haram since 2010 in a report it released later this year.

Boko Haram is fighting to impose extreme Sharia law in northern Nigeria as a Islamic State which sometimes turns bloody with clashes against the Security forces.
