Islamabad, June 11/Nationalturk- Pakistan Tuesday said two Indian fighter jets violated its airspace, prompting country’s air force to scramble its fighter jets to challenge Indian aircrafts.

“Two high-speed Indian aircrafts violated Pakistani airspace by three nautical miles on Tuesday,” a spokesman of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) was quoted as saying by Pakistan’s newspaper, The Dawn.

He said the Indian fighter jets violated Pakistan’s airspace at around 1040 hours in Attari, Fazilka sector.

The spokesman said Indian aircrafts stayed inside Pakistani airspace for about two minutes.

Pakistan Air Force scrambled two fighter jets

“Pakistan Air Force initiated prompt action and scrambled two fighter aircrafts to challenge the Indian aircrafts. After PAF action, Indian aircraft exited the Pakistani airspace,” he added.

However, there has been no word from Indian officials yet about the incident.

India and Pakistan are nuclear-armed archrivals and airspace intrusions by fighter jets of the two countries have happened before also.

The two countries have fought three major wars since their partition in 1947 and were close to 4th war in 1998. However, the timely intervention of US and other world powers helped to save the situation and prevent any military confrontation between the two nuclear armed neighbours.
