Concerned over growing death toll in Gaza, Pakistan has called for immediate ceasefire between Israeli troops and Hamas in Gaza.

Islamabad, July 23/Nationalturk – In view of growing death toll in Gaza, Pakistan has slammed for its “aggression” on Palestinian people and called for immediate ceasefire between Israeli troops and Hamas in Gaza.

“We call on international community to intercede to end the cycle of violence in Gaza and bring an end to unilateral Israeli strikes that indiscriminately kill Palestinians – men, women and children,” Pakistan’s Ambassador to UN Masood Khan told the Palestinian Rights Committee at United Nations.

He voiced Pakistan’s deep concern on the prevailing situation in Gaza.

“The international community should intensify diplomatic efforts for an immediate ceasefire and revival of Israeli-Palestinian peace talks aimed at addressing root causes of the Middle East conflict,” Khan said adding violence in the region had erupted because of the failure of the peace process.

‘’Pakistan condemns violence by Israeli troops’

Khan said Pakistan strongly condemns the brazen violence by Israeli troops in Gaza and the collective punishment being meted out to the Palestinian people.

The death in Israeli air and ground operation in Gaza has crossed 620. Among the dead, according to UN, 70-80 per cent are civilians including over 100 children.

Khan reiterated Pakistan’s support for a two-state solution, which paves the way for a viable, geographically contiguous Palestinian state, created on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Al Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Pakistan’s envoy called for dismantling of the separation wall, as stated in ICJ’s advisory opinion. “The Israeli expansionist wall being constructed deep inside the occupied Palestinian territory is illegal, plain and simple. Its construction must be immediately halted and the constructed part dismantled”.

“Israel must implement UN General Assembly resolution that demands that Israel  comply with its legal obligations as mentioned in the advisory opinion on the wall,” Khan said.
